Germany will provide Ukraine with a new €5 billion military aid package

Німеччина надасть Україні новий пакет військової допомоги на 5 мільярдів євро

This was announced during a meeting between Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Rustem Umerov, and Germany’s Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius. The €5 billion aid package has already been approved by the German parliament, the Bundestag.

Within the framework of the agreements, a Letter of Intent was signed stipulating that Germany will finance the procurement of Ukrainian long-range systems worth hundreds of millions of euros. Rustem Umerov emphasized that this initiative directly strengthens Ukraine’s defense industry and the Defence Forces units employing deep strike capabilities.

Additionally, a contract worth €2.2 billion was signed with the German company Diehl Defence for the production of four IRIS-T air defense systems and accompanying missiles.

Another area of cooperation is the funding of medical equipment procurement from Ukrainian manufacturers. Germany reaffirmed its commitment to supporting investment in Ukraine’s defense industry and to encouraging other partners to do the same, particularly in advancing air defense capabilities.

This aid is not only about weaponry, but also about trust, shared responsibility, and joint efforts to ensure the security of all of Europe,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Rustem Umerov.
