For the first time, Ukraine joined DSEI Japan, an international exhibition of arms and defense equipment hosted in Tokyo

Україна вперше взяла участь у Міжнародній виставці озброєння та техніки DSEI Japan у Токіо

A delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, led by Deputy Minister Valerii Churkin, paid a working visit to Tokyo at the invitation of Japan’s Minister of Defense, Mr. Gen Nakatani, to participate in the DSEI Japan 2025 Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition.

DSEI Japan is one of the world’s leading platforms for presenting defense capabilities, technological innovations, and fostering strategic dialogue among partner nations. This year’s exhibition brought together over 250 companies from 35 countries, along with delegations from the defense ministries of 40 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada, Poland, and others.

For the first time in history, Ukraine was officially represented at this platform—both by a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and by six enterprises from the Ukrainian defense industry.

The Ukrainian delegation conducted a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of defense ministries, government agencies, and leading arms manufacturers. The discussions focused on further steps to deepen cooperation, enhance technological exchange, and mutually strengthen defense capabilities.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine also visited the Central Military Hospital of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, where wounded Ukrainian defenders are undergoing medical care. There, Ukrainian warriors were honored with departmental awards by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The delegation participants familiarized themselves with the conditions for treatment and rehabilitation, met with hospital staff, and held talks with the leadership of medical institutions on the further development of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in military medicine. A meeting was also held with the Head of the Central Military Hospital of the Japan Self-Defense Force.

“Ukraine is grateful to our Japanese partners for their support and humanity. At a time when the world looks to our country as a shield of freedom, our task is to strengthen strategic alliances, develop technological superiority, and bring every one of our warriors home victorious,” emphasized Valerii Churkin.
