First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, met with a delegation from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence and representatives of Thales UK.

The parties discussed the terms of the previously signed contract, which is financed by a loan guaranteed by UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK government’s export credit agency. Under this contract, Ukraine will receive 6,000 Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM) and RapidRanger launchers to enhance its air defence capabilities over the next five years.

Representatives of Thales UK emphasised that the recent opening of their first representative office in Ukraine reflects their strategic objectives. They underscored their awareness of Ukraine’s armament requirements and affirmed their commitment to the timely delivery of contracted items, as well as advancing interoperability between the Ukrainian and British defence industries. Both sides emphasised that industrial collaboration remains a strategic priority for Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

“We are deeply grateful to the Government of the United Kingdom and Thales UK for this major project, which is vital for defending Ukraine’s skies and integrating the Ukrainian defence industry into the European ecosystem. We are taking steps towards each other,” said Sergiy Boyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
