Financial support for the defense sector: Denys Shmyhal convened a meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Finance and heads of state-owned banks
Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Finance and heads of the largest state-owned banks.
“We are reinforcing financial support for the defense sector. I express my gratitude for the establishment of the consortium, which is already facilitating loans for defense production backed by state guarantees,” said the head of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The parties discussed next steps, including implementing the ‘Dutch model,’ which entails direct contracts with manufacturers, investments in Ukrainian defense companies, and the establishment of joint ventures.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the Ministry of Defence is already preparing amendments to the resolution that will allow loan interest to be included in production costs, thereby simplifying operations for enterprises.
“The proposals from the banks were heard. The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and other entities, will promptly process them. We anticipate increased engagement from state-owned banks in providing funding to defense industry enterprises. This is the key to boosting weapons production and strengthening our defense capabilities,” emphasized the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
