Evgeniy Khmara: Ukraine counts on Germany’s continued leadership in supporting Ukraine’s defence
Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Evgeniy Khmara, met with Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul.
The meeting focused on funding for Ukraine’s defence, strengthening air defence capabilities, and developing long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Germany.
Funding for Ukraine’s defence
Evgeniy Khmara thanked Germany for its strong and consistent support for Ukraine.

According to Evgeniy Khmara, Germany’s assistance directly affects Ukraine’s ability to protect service members on the front and civilians in cities.
Strengthening air defence
The meeting also included a dedicated discussion on strengthening Ukraine’s air defence. Evgeniy Khmara emphasised that Germany is already making important efforts alongside partners to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
Strengthening air defence remains one of the key priorities for protecting people and critical infrastructure from russian attacks.
Joint defence projects
The two sides also discussed new joint defence projects. The Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised that Ukraine has unique combat experience that can help strengthen its partners.
We will expand mutually beneficial cooperation that will strengthen both Ukraine and Germany.
