During a working trip, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, visited military units defending Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Together with the Head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, he visited an air defense command post based at one of the anti-aircraft missile brigades.

Denys Shmyhal received a briefing from the commander of the Air Defence Tactical Group “Zaporizhzhia” on the effectiveness of combat operations in this sector of the frontline.

“We also focused on pressing issues requiring prompt resolution. I thanked the warriors who repel enemy drone and missile attacks every day. We are steadily reinforcing the air defense shield over our regions,” the Minister of Defence stated.

Additionally, he visited the command post of the “Shkval” Battalion of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.

Denys Shmyhal received a briefing from the regiment’s commander, Major Oleh Shyriaiev, on the operational situation in the Zaporizhzhia sector and the unit’s area of responsibility. The pressing issues were reviewed in detail.

“We discussed the prospects for expanding the regiment’s organizational and staffing structure and for creating additional opportunities to carry out direct procurement of the required weapons, equipment, and ammunition. I also awarded service members of the regiment who distinguished themselves in combat. I thank everyone who is defending Ukraine,” the Minister of Defence noted.

He also visited service members of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment, who repel enemy attacks on a daily basis near Huliaipole.

Together with the regiment’s commander, Captain Dmytro Filatov, he analyzed the combat situation in this sector of the frontline. They also focused on pressing issues requiring prompt resolution and discussed strengthening the unit’s capabilities.

Denys Shmyhal presented awards to the regiment’s service members and thanked them for their heroism, courage, and resilience in battles for Ukraine.
