DOT, the Ministry of Defence's acquisition agency, will supply improved sleeping bags to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT), the acquisition agency of the MoD, has acquired sleeping bags for the AFU that meet a new technical specification.

“The improved sleeping bag features several significant upgrades. More specifically, it is lighter, has a cover that repels water, and is comfortable in all temperatures. The weight has been reduced compared to the previous model. It should not exceed 3.8 kg,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

For instance, the sleeping bag's earlier model consisted of only one layer. In contrast, the new version comes in three parts: an inner sleeping bag, a liner, and an external water-resistant cover.

The liner prevents the sleeping bag from getting dirty and damp from natural body moisture. The outer cover is both waterproof and breathable, protecting against rain, snow, fog, and wind.

The enhanced sleeping bag's modular design enables it to be utilized in various temperature settings. For example, when inside, service members can use just an inner bag for sleeping, but when outside, they can utilize a full set. The new sleeping bag set also features a three-layer fabric with a membrane for excellent vapor permeability and heat retention.

Thanks to the newly designed compression sack, the sleeping bag can also be constricted and attached to a backpack together with a field mat.

The Ministry of Defence continues to make efforts to improve the inventory logistics for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
