Detecting, classifying, and neutralizing UAVs: how future officers are trained to use anti-drone guns
The intensity of UAV use in modern warfare continues to increase. The ability to detect, classify, and neutralize them is currently critical in combat operations and will remain decisive in the future.
Higher military educational institutions in Ukraine place a strong emphasis on countering UAVs as part of cadet training. In particular, the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy trains future officers to effectively counter UAVs using anti-drone guns. Experience with anti-drone technologies significantly enhances cadets’ effectiveness in carrying out assigned tasks.
As part of their training, cadets learn to:
- operate electronic warfare (EW) systems;
- identify threat types and select the most effective method of suppression;
- operate under conditions of information and visual overload;
- coordinate unit operations in countering drones;
The knowledge acquired translates into practical skills that, in turn, increase the level of safety of units that will participate in future combat operations.
