Deputy Minister of Defence Sergiy Boyev and Speaker of the Latvian Saeima Daiga Mieriņa discuss bilateral military cooperation in 2026

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, and Speaker of the Latvian Saeima, Daiga Mieriņa, discussed Latvia’s military assistance to Ukraine in 2026 and cooperation in the defence industry.
Sergiy Boyev thanked the leadership and people of Latvia for their steadfast support throughout the entire russian-Ukrainian war, in particular for allocating 0.25% of Latvia’s GDP to support Ukraine.

“We are grateful for your assistance and for the continuation of this support in 2026. This year will be particularly challenging. Ukraine will not forget those who stand with us in difficult times,” Sergiy Boyev said.
He also expressed gratitude to Latvia for the transfer of Patria armoured personnel carriers currently in service on the front line and highlighted the importance of the PURL initiative, which Latvia has joined.

For her part, Speaker of the Latvian Saeima, Daiga Mieriņa, underscored the importance of sanctions policy against the aggressor and of expanding cooperation in the defence industry. She stated that Latvian companies are ready to engage in joint projects.
In addition, the parties discussed priorities for military assistance to Ukraine in 2026, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
