Denys Shmyhal: We are strengthening our strategic partnership with Italy in the defence sector

Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal held a conversation with Italian Defence Minister Guido Crozetto.
The Defence Ministers of both countries discussed the development of joint weapons production.
Denys Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Italy for its contribution to the EU’s €150 billion SAFE defence fund.
“In this context, we look forward to deepening our cooperation and advancing key defence projects between our countries and companies,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
He also thanked Italy for the weapons already supplied under military aid packages and for the preparation of additional support. Denys Shmyhal noted that Italian weapons are making a substantial contribution to countering the aggressor.
Ukraine’s Defence Minister informed his counterpart about the overnight attack on Kyiv, which killed several civilians, including a child, and also reported strikes targeting residential areas in Kramatorsk. The parties discussed the possibility of additional air defence system supplies.
“We feel strong support from our Italian friends. Our strategic partnership in the defence sector continues to grow. Italy’s solidarity with Ukraine is deeply appreciated,” summarised Denys Shmyhal.
