Ukraine's Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, visited the warriors defending the Kherson region.

In particular, the Minister received a briefing from the Head of the State Special Transport Service on the deployment of anti-drone protection on the region’s road network.

“We are reinforcing the protection of important logistics routes in frontline regions. According to the State Special Transport Service, the overall volume of completed works across the country stands at more than 78% of the plan,” said Denys Shmyhal.

Units of the State Special Transport Service have received clear tasks regarding work volumes and priority sections. The goal is to protect all key routes that ensure the functioning and defense of frontline settlements, the Minister of Defence added.

In addition, he met with the command of the 34th Separate Coastal Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Accompanied by Major General Dmytro Deliatytskyi, Commander of the 30th Marine Corps, the Minister of Defence was briefed by the brigade commander on the current situation within the area of responsibility and the nature of enemy activity.

Denys Shmyhal awarded the warriors distinctions of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and thanked them for their resilience in repelling enemy attacks. The units are holding their designated defensive lines, and all attempts by russian forces to advance have been unsuccessful.

At the command post of the 39th Separate Coastal Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal was briefed by the brigade commander on the situation within the area of responsibility and the dynamics of combat operations.

An in-depth discussion on the security situation in the Kherson region followed. 

“The brigade’s units are confidently holding back the enemy, maintaining their designated defensive lines and accomplishing their assigned tasks. I thanked the service members for their courage and professionalism and presented distinctions to warriors who distinguished themselves during combat missions,” the Minister of Defence said.

He also assessed the operational situation along the line of contact in the area of responsibility of the 40th Separate Coastal Defence Brigade. The unit’s command reported on the current situation along the defensive lines, personnel sustainment levels, the dynamics of combat operations, and the execution of missions.

“We discussed the unit’s support priorities and the operational responses required to address the challenges faced by the warriors. I presented distinctions to the service members. The brigade continues to hold its positions, inflicting significant losses on the enemy and demonstrating a high level of resilience. I thank the warriors for their bravery,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
