Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Denys Shmyhal and Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić signed a Letter of Intent in Kyiv to deepen defence industry cooperation.

The parties agreed to establish joint production chains and foster cooperation between the defence industries of Ukraine and Croatia. Furthermore, an agreement was reached to organise a joint industrial forum for manufacturers early next year.

“I thank Croatia for its support and for providing thirteen military assistance packages worth over €200 million,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Croatian Minister of Defence announced the fourteenth assistance package and a fifteenth to follow by the end of this year.

During the meeting, the ministers also discussed joint participation in the SAFE mechanism and the possibility of Croatia joining the PURL initiative.

Denys Shmyhal also highlighted Croatia’s contributions to the Demining Coalition's activities. The Croatian company DOK-ING has already delivered 69 mine-clearance vehicles and launched spare parts production in Ukraine.

“The experience of this friendly country is crucial in demining our land,” underlined the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

“I would like to thank Mr Ivan Anušić for his firm stance in supporting Ukraine, as well as the entire Croatian people. We feel the friendly support at all levels. Together, we will defend Europe,” stated Denys Shmyhal, expressing gratitude for the support.
