Ukraine allocates land for the construction of new Rheinmetall plant

On the sidelines of the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London, Ukraine's Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Armin Papperger, CEO of the German company Rheinmetall AG.

The parties discussed avenues for effective cooperation across several areas, including the production of ammunition and armored vehicles, as well as air defense solutions.

“Since our last conversation, we have finalized the procedures for launching a new joint production facility,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He also reported that on September 9, land was allocated in a secure region of Ukraine for a new Rheinmetall shell production facility for the Defence Forces.

Other important projects discussed included developing capabilities for repairing and producing armored vehicles. Rheinmetall's product line features several new models that could enhance the capabilities of the Defence Forces.

Denys Shmyhal and Armin Papperger also discussed the development of air defense, focusing on joint efforts to enhance and refine solutions for more effective countering of enemy drones.

“I am sincerely grateful to Rheinmetall for its support and for advancing joint large-scale projects,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
