Denys Shmyhal holds talks with Sweden’s Minister of Defence on Gripen deliveries and forthcoming support for Ukraine
Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a telephone conversation with Sweden’s Minister of Defence Pål Jonson.
The parties held detailed discussions on the progress of Gripen aircraft delivery.
“Preparations are underway to launch training for Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.
He briefed his counterpart on the large-scale aerial attack launched by russia overnight from Monday into Tuesday. The Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted that F-16 aircraft intercepted and destroyed most of the 35 enemy cruise missiles.
“I highlighted Sweden’s substantial contribution to enhancing our air capabilities and expressed my gratitude! We look forward to continued close cooperation in this area,” Denys Shmyhal said.
He noted that Sweden plans to announce a new support package for Ukraine’s air defence in the near future.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Sweden for its steadfast support, genuine partnership, and assistance that saves the lives of Ukrainians.
