Denys Shmyhal discusses defense cooperation with the U.S. Secretary of the Army
Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Kyiv with a U.S. delegation led by Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll.
The U.S. delegation also included General Randy George, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army; General Christopher Donahue, Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and Commander of NATO Allied Land Command; and Lieutenant General Curtis A. Buzzard, Commander of NSATU and SAG-U.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the people and government of the United States for their vital support that saves Ukrainian lives on a daily basis. The Minister of Defence further emphasized that Ukraine is a reliable ally of the United States.
“We stand ready to help strengthen U.S. global leadership, drawing on the lessons of contemporary warfare. Ukrainian solutions in unmanned systems, communications, and situational awareness are among the world’s best and continue to prove their effectiveness in combat. Ukraine is prepared to develop joint security solutions with its allies, and the United States plays an exceptionally important role in this process,” Denys Shmyhal stated.
He briefed the partners on Ukraine’s progress in defense innovation, particularly in the production of FPV drones, interceptors, and deep-strike capabilities.
The delegations focused on the next steps toward implementing the historic defense agreements reached by President Zelenskyy and President Trump. The Minister of Defence of Ukraine added that these agreements will raise bilateral cooperation to a significantly higher level and enhance the defense capabilities of both countries.
Denys Shmyhal also expressed gratitude to the United States for approving the sale of a support package for the PATRIOT air-defense system valued at approximately $105 million — critically needed assistance that will enable more effective defense against russian strikes.
