Denys Shmyhal discussed strengthening defense cooperation with the leadership of the Situation Center ‘Ukraine’ of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Kyiv with Brigadier General Joachim Kaschke, who heads the Situation Center ‘Ukraine’ at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence, and with his predecessor, Major General Christian Freuding.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Germany for its significant security support. He underlined the assistance in delivering Patriot systems and the general’s active personal role in this effort.

“I am grateful to Germany for the announced €9 billion in annual assistance, as well as for the €300 million contribution to the development of long-range strike drone production,” stated Ukraine’s Minister of Defence.

The parties continued their dialogue on the agreements reached through the Ramstein format in a meeting with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. In particular, the agenda included the establishment of joint production facilities with German companies and the launch of projects under the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative.

Additionally, the parties discussed the changes currently underway in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Minister underlined that the Ukrainian military is advancing towards NATO standards in close coordination with allied partners.

“We highly value Germany’s willingness to respond without delay to any challenges. We remain committed to further deepening our defense cooperation,” underlined Denys Shmyhal.
