Denys Shmyhal and Vice President of the European Commission discussed cooperation in defence and digitalisation
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, met in Kyiv with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen.
The Minister of Defence and the Ministry’s team briefed their European counterparts on digital solutions in communications, battlefield innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
In particular, the Ukrainian side presented digital products that assist service members in defence and targeting enemy positions, and acquainted the delegation with the advantages of the Army+ and Reserve+ apps.
“Cooperation with Ukraine opens up numerous opportunities in the defence sector. I emphasised our readiness to implement joint large-scale projects that will enhance the security of the entire European community. One of these projects is the ‘Drone Wall’. Ukraine is already prepared to share its experience in countering russian terror to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Minister of Defence, Ukraine counts on the European SAFE mechanism to direct substantial financial resources toward strengthening the production capabilities of defence enterprises.
“We are grateful to the EU member states for their significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s digital capabilities. We agreed to deepen our cooperation. Together, we are building a secure and strong Europe,” concluded the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
