Denys Shmyhal and Slovenia’s Defence Minister discuss the development of defence cooperation
Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting in Kyiv with Slovenia’s Defence Minister, Borut Sajovic.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Slovenia for its support across all key areas, including its participation in the PURL initiative.
“This is a truly important initiative to strengthen our capabilities, above all in air defence. We highly value Slovenia’s intention to allocate around €43 million to this mechanism by the end of the year. I also emphasised the importance of the Security Cooperation Agreement and the long-term support between our countries,” stated Denys Shmyhal.
The delegations focused on ways to advance cooperation, including opportunities for joint industrial projects within the European EDIP and SAFE initiatives, as well as under the “Danish model.”
“We stand ready to share our experience in employing interceptor drones, deep-strike systems, and other types of UAVs,” underlined the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the potential supply of training weapons for training Ukrainian warriors, as well as the use of frozen russian assets to support Ukraine’s defence.
