Denys Shmyhal and Radosław Sikorski discussed joint solutions to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Poland
In Kyiv, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal met with a delegation headed by Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski
The parties focused on enhancing defense cooperation to address shared security challenges.
“russia has chosen a strategy of escalating hybrid aggression, threatening all countries in Europe. Accordingly, we are pursuing joint solutions to bolster the defense capabilities of Ukraine and its European partners. We briefed the delegation on the latest information regarding this week’s deliberate ‘Shahed’ drone attack against Poland and explored possibilities for cooperation in intercepting aerial targets,” stated Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, Ukraine is prepared to share with allies its experience in countering drones, exchange technologies, and establish joint ventures under the ‘Build in Ukraine’ and ‘Build with Ukraine’ projects. At the same time, Poland has expressed interest in joint production of drones and long-range systems, including ballistic missiles.
The delegations also discussed the application of the European SAFE mechanism for the development of the defense industries of both countries.
“On behalf of our warriors, I expressed gratitude to Poland for its steadfast and comprehensive support since the onset of russia’s aggression. I also thanked Mr. Sikorski for his personal leadership in this regard,” concluded the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
