Denys Shmyhal and Kaja Kallas discuss strengthening the security of Ukraine and Europe
During a meeting in Kyiv, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and the EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, discussed joint projects in weaponry production, technology exchange, and participation in EU collective initiatives, including the SAFE project.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted that the European Union has become a strong partner of Ukraine in the war against russia. He emphasised the need for closer integration of Ukraine into the system of collective defence.
“Ukraine has proven to be an indispensable ally in the defence of Europe. Since the onset of the full-scale war, the EU and its member states have provided military and technical assistance, trained Ukrainian service members under the EUMAM Ukraine mission, and introduced 18 packages of sanctions against the aggressor,” said Denys Shmyhal.
He extended his thanks to the European Union, represented by Kaja Kallas, for its unwavering support. The Minister also stressed the necessity of further intensifying sanctions against russia.
In addition, the parties coordinated Ukraine’s priority financial needs for the next year. “It is important that russian funds continue to work for the benefit of Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.
“Our partnership is the foundation of future security. Together, we can build a strong and united Europe capable of repelling any threats,” he added.
