Demining units of the Security and Defence Forces have neutralized over 1 million explosive devices
Since the onset of the full-scale war, demining specialists of the Security and Defence Forces have neutralized more than 1 million explosive devices.
As reported by the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, nearly 6,500 km² of land have been surveyed, and inspections have been carried out on 9,691 km of roads, 10,164 km of power lines, and 3,748 km of railways. In addition, 37,000 km² of de-occupied territory has been identified as available for use following non-technical surveys.
“Thanks to systematic and coordinated efforts, we have been able to accelerate the pace of demining carried out by mine action operators. We thank all those whose daily dedicated work restores normal life to the Ukrainian land,” said Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
Furthermore, this year has seen a marked increase in the areas demined specifically by mine action operators compared to the previous year. In 2024, 38 km² were demined, whereas this year the figure has already reached nearly 150 km². Quality control of demining operations has been completed in areas totaling approximately 100 km², resulting in the issuance of 478 certificates.
