Defense AI Center A1: Artificial intelligence will accelerate and enhance decision-making on the battlefield

Artificial intelligence will provide Ukraine with a battlefield advantage by increasing response speed. It will enable Ukraine to outpace the enemy through faster data processing and decision-making across the full spectrum of operations — from strategic planning to tactical execution on the battlefield.
This was stated by Danylo Tsvok, CEO of the Defense AI Center A1, in an interview with the Associated Press.
AI as a tool for battlefield advantage
According to Danylo Tsvok, AI will enhance decision-making and battlefield data analysis. This will enable our military to act faster and more precisely than the enemy while reducing risks for personnel.
“We need to be faster than the enemy in decision-making,” he said, emphasizing that AI is a critical factor in modern warfare.
Integration of technologies into a unified system
Artificial intelligence is already making Ukrainian weapons smarter: drones are becoming resilient to electronic warfare (EW) and can complete missions even without a connection to the operator. The next step is to integrate systems into a unified “digital organism” in which drones, ground robots, and information systems operate as a coordinated network.
Such a model of warfare will enable the automation of stages of the kill chain, allowing forces to act faster than the enemy. This will enhance coordination and overall battlefield effectiveness.
At the same time, Tsvok emphasized that Ukraine is not pursuing fully autonomous combat systems, as human control over final decisions must be retained.
“It is not about 100% autonomy, but about effectiveness on the battlefield,” he emphasized.
Cooperation with international partners
Ukraine is also expanding cooperation with international partners in technology and data sharing. In particular, the Defense AI Center A1 is supported by the Government of the United Kingdom. This approach combines Ukraine’s unique combat experience with the technological expertise of international partners.
As Danylo Tsvok summarized, AI development is important not only for Ukraine but also for global security.
“Democracies must develop defense capabilities. Without AI, they cannot effectively safeguard peace,” said the CEO of the Defense AI Center A1.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defence announced the establishment of the Defense AI Center A1, aimed at leveraging AI to gain a real advantage over the enemy in the air, on the ground, and in the economic domain.
