The Ministry of Defence has codified and authorized the Ukrainian-made JEDI Shahed Hunter unmanned aerial system for operational use. The high-speed interceptor drones within this system successfully destroy russian Shahed-type attack drones, including Geran and Gerbera. They can also intercept reconnaissance UAVs such as Zala and Supercam.

JEDI Shahed Hunter is a vertically launched multirotor interceptor drone. It features a lightweight, robust frame, four high-performance electric motors, and a high-capacity battery. Weighing just over 4 kg, the drone can carry a payload of up to 500 grams—enough to destroy an attack drone. Its motors provide sufficient power to accelerate the drone to speeds exceeding 350 km/h and reach altitudes of up to 6 km.

JEDI Shahed Hunter automatically receives data from radar systems. This allows interceptor drones to enter the engagement zone more rapidly and destroy the target promptly.

The ground control station ensures flight coordination, reliable communications, and precise target engagement. JEDI Shahed Hunter can automatically acquire, track, and home in on a target. In addition, it is equipped with daylight and thermal imaging cameras, enabling it to operate both day and night.

With its capabilities, the system can protect the airspace from enemy drones within a radius of up to 40 km.

It is important to note that protecting the skies is a top priority of Ukraine’s War Plan. The goal is to identify 100% of aerial threats in real time and intercept at least 95% of missiles and drones.
