Civilians will be allowed to use declared firearms to repel aggression against Ukraine – Cabinet of Ministers resolution

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine clarified the procedure for the use of firearms by civilians during their participation in repelling armed aggression against Ukraine.

The newly adopted resolution, in line with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring Civilian Participation in the Defense of Ukraine," amends Section 4 of the Procedure for Civilian Use of Firearms in Response to and Containment of Armed Aggression by the Russian Federation and/or Other States Against Ukraine During Martial Law.

The updated procedure grants civilians the right to use firearms that have been declared in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring Civilian Participation in the Defense of Ukraine."

In August of this year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine amended this law, standardizing the rules for civilian handling of firearms and granting civilians the right to declare all existing firearms and ammunition in their possession.
