Cabinet of Ministers endorses establishment of R&D Center for the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution enabling the Ministry of Defence to establish a dedicated research institution – the R&D Center for the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Center’s primary task will be to deliver modern scientific solutions across all Support Forces domains, including engineering support, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) protection, geospatial intelligence, hydrometeorology, and canine support.
The Support Forces carry out critically important work on the front every day. At the same time, the existing research institutions of the Armed Forces are overstretched and unable to fully address all required research areas, particularly at the operational and tactical levels.
The new Center will provide the capability to:
- conduct a full cycle of research — from exploratory and theoretical studies to practical and experimental development;
- respond rapidly to changes in warfare and the emergence of new threats;
- develop solutions that will help the Ukrainian military counter modern threats more effectively.
The R&D Center for the Support Forces of the AFU will be established by reorganizing the existing Support Forces Research Center.
No additional expenditures will be required; funding will be provided within the Ministry of Defence’s existing budget program. This will be made possible through staffing optimization.
