Brave1 tests a new type of FPV drones in field trials

The Brave1 defense innovation cluster has conducted field testing of a new generation of FPV drones. Efforts are underway to accelerate the delivery of these UAVs to the Defenсe Forces of Ukraine. Some of the tested models have already demonstrated high effectiveness in challenging conditions.
The testing was conducted at a training range with the participation of eight Ukrainian manufacturers. This specific direction in the development of a new type of FPV drones is being advanced by Serhii Sternenko, Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, in cooperation with Ukrainian manufacturers and Brave1.
Test results
During testing, the drones conducted missions at ranges of up to 25 km and engaged targets under the effects of various types of electronic warfare (EW). Certain solutions successfully completed the full testing cycle and demonstrated the ability to operate effectively in battlefield conditions.
The new type of FPV drones is being developed in close coordination between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Brave1 defense innovation cluster, and Ukrainian manufacturers. Details of the technological solutions are not disclosed for security reasons.
Accelerating the delivery of innovations
The rapid delivery of effective technologies to the front is one of the key priorities.
To support this, the following measures have already been implemented:
- a simplified procedure for weapons codification;
- an updated approach to defining UAV requirements: 80% of funding is allocated to the most effective systems based on battlefield data, and 20% to new technologies;
- regular field testing of new solutions in cooperation with Brave1.
For each class of unmanned systems, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and Brave1 defense innovation cluster develop a dedicated testing methodology. Manufacturers whose solutions are not yet under government contracts are also involved in testing. If a drone demonstrates effectiveness under near-combat conditions, the contracting process is initiated.
