Army+ has launched an Internet security course to safeguard military personnel from digital threats

The sixth training course, ‘Information Resilience: Cybersecurity,’ is now available on the Army+ app, aiming to assist military personnel in recognizing online threats and improving information security.

The course comprises two modules. Each module features video tutorials, real-world examples, and practical guidance, providing military personnel with step-by-step instructions for securing their personal devices.

In general, the course on cybersecurity and information resilience covers the following topics:

  • How to identify phishing threats, safeguard against malware, and prevent attacks exploiting personal data?
  • How to secure your devices and networks against threats?
  • Secure use of mobile technologies.
  • Core Internet security practices and recommendations for safely using messengers and email services.
  • How to defend against social engineering attacks?

“A contemporary service member must possess a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills. The new course in Army+ will be beneficial for commanders and personnel alike, enabling timely detection and counteraction of online threats. We continue expanding our educational initiative; this is just the first batch of materials in this area. We plan to expand with a continuation focused on countering enemy PSYOPs,” the Deputy Minister of Defence, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk, emphasized.

Upon completing the training and passing the final test, service members will be awarded a certificate confirming successful course completion.

“Our military must be safeguarded not only in the field but also against the enemy's online actions. The educational segment of the Army+ app is evolving, having expanded to six courses in just two months. So far, 25,000 service members have already started their training, with 6,000 having completed courses and earned certificates of successful completion. We are enhancing the capabilities of our defenders and solidifying our qualitative advantage over the enemy,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.

The course was launched in collaboration with experts in communications, cybersecurity, and media literacy from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Zinc Network, with the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The establishment of the training segment in the Army+ was supported by the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO).

To reiterate, the app had previously introduced five courses: ‘Overall Training’, ‘Routine Under Field Conditions’, ‘UAV Fundamentals: An Introduction to Unmanned Systems’, ‘Fundamentals of Battlefield Communication’, and ‘Psychological Training’.
