Armed Forces of Ukraine athletes won over 2,800 medals in 2025
In 2025, Armed Forces of Ukraine athletes won 2,816 medals at international and national competitions, including more than 700 awards at international events, among them 281 gold medals.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s Department of Physical Culture and Sports.
Over the course of the year, 1,542 military athletes took part in 521 international competitions, including The World Games (non-Olympic sports), World and European championships and cups, as well as the CISM Military World Winter Games.
A total of 718 international medals were won:
● 281 gold medals
● 222 silver medals
● 215 bronze medals
At the national level, athletes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also recorded notable achievements. In total, 2,071 military athletes participated in 293 national competitions, winning 2,098 medals.
● 938 gold medals
● 653 silver medals
● 507 bronze medals
The outstanding results of Junior Sergeant Viktor Svyrydiuk, an Honored Master of Sport in dragon boat rowing, merit special attention.
In 2025, Viktor Svyrydiuk won nine medals at the most prestigious international competitions:
● At the 2025 World Championships in Germany, competing as part of the Ukrainian national team, the athlete won five medals (three gold and two silver).
● At the 2025 World Games, where dragon boat rowing was included in the program for the first time, Viktor Svyrydiuk won four medals as part of the team (two gold, one silver, and one bronze), firmly establishing Ukrainian rowers on the international stage.
Throughout the year, military athletes represented the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a broad spectrum of sports beyond the traditional Olympic disciplines, including triathle, biathle, laser run, grappling, coastal rowing, and many others. Their outstanding achievements are a matter of pride for the entire Armed Forces of Ukraine and once again affirm that the Ukrainian warrior is strong both in spirit and in body, demonstrating resilience and the determination to prevail on the battlefield and in sport.
