Anna Gvozdiar discusses development of joint defence projects with EU parliamentarians

In Kyiv, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Anna Gvozdiar met with the Chairs of the European Affairs Committees of EU member state parliaments, led by European Parliament Vice President Esteban González Pons. 

The discussion focused on Ukraine’s security situation, the threats posed by russian aggression to the whole of Europe, and the strengthening of cooperation with EU member states in providing international military assistance to Ukraine.

“Ukraine and the European Union are taking a step toward a new level of security cooperation. We discussed the establishment of joint production capacities, the advancement of modern defence technologies, and the creation of a reliable framework for continental defence. This represents a transition from emergency aid to a long-term partnership that will enhance the security of every European country,” underlined Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Anna Gvozdiar.

The parties discussed ways to broaden the involvement of EU member state parliaments in cooperation with Ukraine within the key defence initiatives SAFE and the ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030, as well as the development of joint production projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities while contributing to European security.

Key priorities include cooperation in arms production within the Build in ‘Ukraine / Build with Ukraine’ format, Ukraine’s equal role in European defence programs SAFE and EDIP, and new initiatives such as the ‘Eastern Flank Watch’ and the ‘Drone Wall’, which may form the basis of a modern security system.

Anna Gvozdiar also extended an invitation to the parliamentarians to attend the International Defence Industries Forum, scheduled for October 6 in Kyiv, which will serve as a key platform for strengthening defence-industrial cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.
