AI-powered drone and geosensor mine detector: Ministry of Defence participates in demonstration of state-of-the-art demining equipment

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine participated in a demonstration of technological innovations in humanitarian demining, held at one of the bases of the State Emergency Service. The event was also attended by representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Among the Ukrainian innovations, participants observed a drone equipped with ground-penetrating radar and artificial intelligence capable of analyzing data and detecting threats from the air.
Japanese technologies were also showcased, including mechanized demining vehicles and the ALIS geosensor mine detector, capable of identifying even non-metallic mines. The mine detector was personally presented by its inventor, Professor Motoyuki Sato.
The organizers of the demonstration stated that their shared goal is to integrate modern technologies into Ukraine’s humanitarian demining system.
Colonel Olha Drobot, representative of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defence, invited participants to the UTTC – the Ukrainian Training and Testing Center.
“This state-of-the-art complex is designed to test such technology and equipment and for training personnel in their proficient operation,” said Olha Drobot.
Representatives of the Defence and Security Forces thanked international partners for their trust, support, and active participation in building a safe future.
