A ‘hot’ July on the front lines: over 5,500 combat engagements, the enemy escalates the use of guided aerial bombs
In July 2025, the intensity of hostilities by russian occupation forces remained high. The enemy continues to exert pressure, seeking to wear down Ukrainian defenses, while also increasing the use of guided aerial bombs (GABs).
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 5,523 combat engagements were recorded during the month. The number of engagements repeatedly exceeded 200 per day. The ‘hottest day’ on the front line was July 10, when 214 combat engagements were recorded in a single day.
Alongside the high intensity of infantry assaults and artillery and missile attacks, the enemy significantly increased the use of aerial bombs equipped with universal guidance and control modules (guided aerial bombs). Throughout July, russian aircraft dropped 3,786 guided aerial bombs, targeting both Defence Forces positions and frontline localities. This amount is higher than the 3,100 units recorded in the prior month. The highest number of guided aerial bombs dropped by russian aviation in 2025 occurred in April — over 5,000.
