Airborne Forces
The Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which include air assault, airmobile, airborne, jaeger, and artillery brigades. They also include combat and logistical support units, along with a training center that prepares future paratroopers.
The Airborne Forces are one of the most combat-capable military elements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where highly professional, well-trained, and motivated soldiers serve. They perform combat tasks in the most difficult directions.
The initial battles against the russian enemy in 2014 were a testament to the paratroopers' indomitability and strength. The Ukrainian paratroopers' exceptional military training and unwavering determination to achieve victory were evident in the liberation of Sloviansk, the battles for Liman, Savur-mohyla, Shakhtarsk, Debaltseve, Avdiivka, Mariupol, Trokhizbenka, Lysychansk, Krymske, Yasynuvata, Pisky, Donetsk, and Luhansk airports, and the Butivka mine.
After the start of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, the "maroon berets" proved themselves in the battle for Kyiv, heavy defensive battles for Voznesensk, Mykolaiv, Avdiivka, Slovyansk, Bilohorivka, Maryinka, Krasnohorivka. Then there was the lightning-fast Slobozhan counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region and participation in the liberation of the Kherson region.
In 2023-2024, Ukrainian paratroopers distinguished themselves in the battles for Soledar, Bakhmut, Robotyne, Krynky, Novomykhailivka, Bilohorivka, Chasiv Yar, Kupiansk, Toretsk, and Vovchansk. Additionally, the breakthrough by air assault brigades at the Russian border and offensive operations in the Kursk region (russia) demonstrated the execution of clear and rapid modern methods and techniques for conducting offensive operations. These actions not only boosted the morale of the Ukrainian Defense Forces service members but also garnered widespread international attention and significantly diminished the internal and external prestige of the russian army.
Thousands of units of enemy armored equipment that were left to rust on the battlefields, hundreds of enemy aircraft of various types that were permanently grounded, thousands of eliminated enemies - this is only a partial account of Ukrainian paratroopers' combat successes in this war.
Soldiers in the Airborne Forces are using modern Western-made weapons, which they quickly mastered and learned to use effectively in combat. In addition, they are constantly improving and developing new methods and means of destroying the enemy, which include the use of UAVs of various types.
Paratrooper training takes place at the Airborne Forces training center, where combat-experienced instructors teach recruits the fundamentals of military skill, incorporating knowledge and skills gained in challenging and grueling battles against the russian aggressor into the training process. Training continues in combat brigades and on the battlefield.
Their color is maroon. Their motto is "Always first!". The emblem is a silver parachute with open golden wings. On the central axis of the parachute, pointing downward, is a golden sword belonging to Archangel Michael, adorned with a flaming yellow-hot blade. The flag of the Airborne Forces depicts Archangel Michael as their patron.
Paratroopers stubbornly go forward, destroying the enemies, and will not stop until the last occupier leaves the Ukrainian land or remains buried in it forever.
