The current combat experience of the Defence Forces of Ukraine offers NATO countries a unique opportunity to launch new joint projects and strengthen existing ones, particularly through JATEC.

Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, emphasized this during a meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council, the highest body for bilateral cooperation.

Participants in the meeting, chaired by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and attended by Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), focused on the conditions for implementing projects, particularly within the activities of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC).

Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk outlined JATEC’s priority projects for 2026:

  • education and training (scaling up existing L-courses and strengthening the NCO component);
  • innovation and operational experimentation;
  • strengthening analytical capabilities (forecasting enemy actions using AI; an electromagnetic operations project focused on electronic warfare (EW); and improvements to navigation systems);
  • interoperability as a cross-functional area of activity.

“JATEC is one of the mechanisms of cooperation intended to improve the entire service cycle of military personnel — from education and training to decision-making based on high-quality analytics, modern situational awareness tools, and the application of advanced technologies,” said Yevhen Moisiuk.

All activities under the JATEC Work Programme must contribute to interoperability between Ukrainian and NATO procedures — from project implementation to enhancing the ability of military personnel to operate jointly, use interoperable weapons systems, and apply shared protocols and communication systems.

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine also expressed gratitude to the Alliance for its comprehensive and consolidated support for Ukraine.

The NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC) is located in Poland. The Centre’s mission is to strengthen interoperability, support transformation processes in defense initiatives and deterrence, thereby contributing to deeper integration between Ukraine and NATO.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defence reported on the first results of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC).
